Principal Product Manager

This position reports to Chief Technology Officer.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will directly interact with both end-users and economic buyers of the products and applications at key Fortune 100 accounts, up to and including the C suite, in order to collect and collate product requirements. You will draw on your depth in enterprise software to understand the specific product requirements related to customer needs. You will build a collaborative product team to develop the backlog of features and enhancements, drive the product’s progress across the organization, and ensure roadmap transparency for marketing, business development, professional services, and executive stakeholders. This role draws upon deep business acumen, critical thinking, and a passion for creating a timely and maintainable solution. The ability to lead through collaboration with effective stakeholder management is vital for this role. As a successful candidate, you will have prior experience driving an agile software and product lifecycle to yield rapid delivery that satisfies customer needs while maintaining quality. Support developers through product and backlog ownership, feature definitions, and escalation management. You will also manage strategic partnerships within the company’s technology teams. 


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • 10+ years of industry experience as a product or people manager within a technology environment
  • Strong communications and executive-level presentations skills
  • A proven record of successful delivery of complex products or services for enterprise-level customers
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical background in enterprise software products, including private cloud and customer-hosted solutions
  • Fully comfortable with financial and operational metrics and analysis
  • Excellent relationship building and engagement skills
  • Focus on the customer; celebrates the success of others in the business
  • Strong technical understanding of enterprise software development and deployment tools.
  • MS or Ph.D. degree in computer science, or related technical, math, or scientific field or prior related work experience


Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with science teams to understand product features and limits, gather feedback on proposed ideas
  • Create detailed, unambiguous requirements with acceptance and QA scenarios
  • Create reference documentation
  • Define and follow processes and product rhythm
  • Work with designer iteratively on high-resolution wireframes and UI, QA planning
  • Work with engineering teams to explain requirements, brainstorm solutions,
  • Scope and point the stories, groom the stories as needed, manage backlog, run inceptions, retros
  • Work with engineering on QA, release dates, checkoff on releasees and own launch plan
  • Coordinate with marketing on product features and collateral esp. tutorials and documentation such as FAQs, API documentation
  • Coordinate with legal and business development on product features and legal protection
  • Communicate with internal team on a regular basis, update external customers as needed
