About the job

The Quantum Software Team strives to enable researchers, engineers, and data scientists to efficiently and reliably solve computational problems with quantum algorithms. As a Quantum Software Engineer, you will design and build a suite of quantum algorithms for enterprise use cases, as well as tools to help deploy those calculations on to quantum hardware. You will work closely with Zapata’s Research and Applications teams, who will use the tools you build to solve our clients’ most challenging computational problems.

Although the work can be performed remotely from most locations, team members will be expected to be work during U.S. Eastern or Central European working hours.


  • Design, develop, test, and maintain our implementations of quantum and classical algorithms for business needs in application domains such as finance, chemistry, machine learning, and industrial operations.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for deploying these algorithms on classical and quantum hardware.
  • Support scientists and engineers who use the tools that you build.

Minimum qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related technical field, or bachelor's in a related technical field with two years work experience.
  • Experience developing technical software in Python.
  • Experience developing software for quantum computation.

Preferred qualifications

  • Two years experience developing software for quantum computation in Python.
  • Experience developing complex technical software as part of a team.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and data management systems.
