Zapata computing is a quantum software, services, and applications company developing quantum algorithms to solve critical problems. A vital part of our mission at Zapata is to create an environment in which our researchers will grow and flourish as scientists. Pioneering commercial quantum algorithms, research at Zapata is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and cross-disciplinary. Zapata is hiring creative, curious, and resourceful problem solvers to join our world-class team of quantum scientists, researchers, and programmers.

Description:

Zapata Computing seeks a pioneering DevOps engineer to help us build our quantum computing software platform for the next generation of high-performance computing. Our team consists of some of the best in the field of quantum algorithms. You will build tools for grateful colleagues, offering them ever greater capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to enjoy a green field project. We are not breaking apart a monolith and containerizing. We are already implementing our tools with microservices on Kubernetes. We are meeting customer needs today with our platform and looking for help continuing down this path.

You will work along-side software engineers and quantum scientists. This role will help develop an enterprise grade product through projects such as:

  • Implementing continuous integration/deployment setup
  • Improving logging setup and visibility (e.g. setup elasticsearch and Kibana)
  • Supporting scientists deploying workflows on our platform
  • Working with the security team to monitor and improve security practices in the platform
  • Building tools for easy setup and control of multiple isolated and secure Kubernetes clusters (with Terraform or Ansible, for example)

There is a small support component to ensure workflows are running smoothly.

The right person listens and communicates well; able to empathize with co-workers on directional intent and issues affecting progress; enjoys learning; jumps in on tough problems; finds great satisfaction in building well-oiled machines; takes pleasure in automating
